Privacy Policy
Effective October 24, 2026
Roomlike is made by Darren Tran ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the Roomlike iOS app and this website collect, why, who else handles it, and how you can delete it. We keep it short and plain on purpose.
The short version
- You sign in with Apple. We don't have a password for you.
- Your room photos are used to create your designs. Your photos are never used for model training, by us or by the providers we use.
- We don't sell your personal data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or sites.
- You can delete your account in the app. It removes your data.
What we collect
- Account (Sign in with Apple). Your Apple account identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see Apple's private relay address.
- Room photos and designs. The photos you take or upload, the rooms you create, and the designs generated from them. Location data (EXIF/GPS) is removed from a photo on your device before it is uploaded, and removed again on our server.
- Style preferences. Your swipes (like, skip, super-like), the styles you pick, anything you type to steer a look, and the style profile we build from them.
- Boards and saved items. Designs and products you save to boards.
- Purchases. The App Store transaction identifiers for the design sets you buy, so we can unlock them. Apple processes the payment; we never see your card or payment details.
- Couple mode. If you invite a partner and they join, you share one household. We store the household, its members' display names, and which designs each of you reacted to.
- Shop link taps. When you tap a product, we record the tap (which product, which design, where in the app, and your account) so retailers can credit it and we can see what works.
- Device push token (optional). If you allow notifications we store your device's Apple Push Notification token. You can turn notifications off in the app or in iOS Settings at any time.
- Technical data. Our servers keep operational logs (request identifiers, error codes, timing). We keep personal data out of them: user identifiers are hashed, and we do not log tokens, email addresses, signed links or image content.
The Roomlike app has no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics SDKs, and no tracking across other companies' apps and websites. This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
How we use it
- To create and show your redesigns and match them to products.
- To learn your taste so later designs fit you better.
- To unlock the sets you buy, and to keep your account secure and prevent abuse.
- To send notifications you've allowed (for example, when a design is ready or your partner joins).
- To run and debug the service, and to comply with the law.
Who handles your data (service providers)
We share data only with companies that help us run Roomlike, and only what each one needs:
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, the App Store (purchases) and the Apple Push Notification service (your push token and notification text).
- fal.ai: image generation. It receives your room photo and the style instructions, and returns the redesigned image.
- Google (Gemini API): photo checks, such as confirming a photo shows a usable room and spotting items in a design. It receives the photo or design image.
- Cloudflare: private file storage (R2) for photos and designs, plus DNS, content delivery and hosting of this website.
- Cloud hosting provider: the servers and database that run the Roomlike service.
- Monitoring and uptime services: receive operational logs and metrics of the kind described above, which exclude personal content.
- Retailers and affiliate networks: when you tap a shop link, the retailer's site opens and your device connects to it directly. Links carry a random tap reference, not your name or email. See the Affiliate Disclosure.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of the business (in which case the protections in this policy continue to apply to your data).
Third-party AI and your photos
Roomlike uses artificial intelligence (AI) services run by other companies, as listed above (fal.ai for image generation and Google Gemini for photo checks). Your photos are sent to those services only to produce a result for you. We use commercial service terms under which customer content is not used to train or improve the providers' models, and we do not use your photos or designs to train any model ourselves. Photos are also checked by automated safety screening. Generated designs are machine-made concept images and can contain mistakes.
Photos stay in private storage and are shown to you only through short-lived links. If you create a share link, the public page shows a copy of the design, never your original photo.
How long we keep things
- Original room photos (and files derived from them): deleted 12 months after you last used that room, or sooner when you delete the room or your account.
- Designs you haven't saved (not favorited and not on a board): deleted after 30 days.
- Swipe history: after 24 months we remove the link to your account and scramble the event identifier, keeping only anonymous taste signals.
- Backups: deleted data can remain in backups for up to 35 days until they expire.
- Purchase records: kept in anonymised form (no link to you) where needed for tax and accounting.
These are our current settings, and we may shorten them. We will not lengthen them without updating this page.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account. Open Profile, tap the settings gear, then Delete Account. We revoke your Sign in with Apple connection, erase your account, rooms, photos, designs, boards and swipes from our database, and remove the stored files. If you're in couple mode, you leave the household first, and your partner keeps their own data.
- Delete a room at any time, from the room in the app.
- Access, correction, a copy of your data, or help with any other request: email privacy@roomlike.app. We'll respond within 30 days.
- Notifications and photo access can be changed in the app or in iOS Settings at any time.
US state privacy rights
If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to access and correct it, to delete it, to receive a copy, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. To make a request, email privacy@roomlike.app from the address linked to your account, or use Delete Account in the app. You may use an authorized agent, and we may need to verify your identity. If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our response.
Where data is processed
Roomlike is operated from the United States, and our providers may process data in the US and other countries. By using the service you understand your data may be transferred there.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Files are kept in private storage, access is limited to your household's account, sensitive tokens are encrypted at rest, and our staff have no routine access to your photos. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Children
Roomlike is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email privacy@roomlike.app and we will delete it.
Changes
If we make material changes we'll update the date above and, where the law requires, tell you in the app before they take effect.
